Corey Feldman claims Johnny Depp pushed him out of What's Eating Gilbert Grape by telling producers he was a junkie

Corey Feldman is claiming that Johnny Depp cost him a role in 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' by telling the producers he was a junkie after he'd finished rehab. The role went to Leonardo DiCaprio.

Speaking to Billy Corgan on his Magnificent Others podcast, Feldman claimed that he nearly portrayed Arnie, the disabled younger brother of Depp's titular protagonist in the 1993 drama. Representatives for Depp didn't immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment on Feldman's remarks. Feldman also said he auditioned to play Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings trilogy — a role that went to his Goonies costar Sean Astin.
