Concert Ticket Junk Fees Must Be Disclosed Upfront, FTC Rules
The FTC ruled that junk fees — tacked on at the end of a purchase — must be disclosed upfront.
Ticketing agencies will have to disclose total costs upfront — including junk fees — in a new ruling from the Federal Trade Commission targeting deceptive pricing tactics. “The FTC’s rule will put an end to junk fees around live event tickets, hotels, and vacation rentals, saving Americans billions of dollars and millions of hours in wasted time. In June 2023, President Joe Biden announced that Live Nation and its Ticketmaster subsidiary pledged to eliminate junk fee tactics and show prices upfront.
