Comic-Con Sex-Trafficking Ring Busted By California Cops, Feds; 14 Arrested, Teen Among Victims
A state, federal & local police task force caught over a dozen perps & save 10 victims at SDCC last week
An investigation into a sex trafficking ring at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con Convention has led to 14 arrested and 10 victims “recovered,” California’s Attorney General said Wednesday. “Unfortunately, sex traffickers capitalize on large scale events such as Comic-Con to exploit their victims for profit,” said Rob Bonta announcing the sting at the just concluded mega-gathering. “These arrests send a clear message to potential offenders that their criminal behavior will not be tolerated,” the California AG added of the July 25 – 27 efforts of the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force “We are grateful to all our dedicated partners involved in the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force, whose collaboration has been invaluable.
