Cole Hocker Scores Major Upset in 1,500m Final and Sets Olympic Record

Team USA’s Cole Hocker earned gold in the men’s 1500-meter final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

After the starting shot sounded, Ingebrigtsen quickly took the lead with a shockingly fast pace—one that set him on the path to a new world record and forced the other runners to adjust their plans in real-time. The 1500m has seen eight different medalists at the last three World Championships (in 2019, 2022, and 2023), with Kerr the only athlete to medal in both the Olympics in Tokyo and Paris, improving on his bronze from three years ago.
