CLAUDIA CONNELL'S My TV Week: A gripping race across our hearts
CLAUDIA CONNELL: Stephen and Viv, a married couple from Rutland, made up one of five pairs competing in the new series of the fantastically addictive Race Across The World.
With only £27 per person per day, money had to be carefully budgeted – making James and Betty's mistake of ordering caviar in a local restaurant a costly one. When disgraced soldier Corporal Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts, left with Winslet) is hired as her personal mould detector, the pair form a toxic bond. The plot becomes shaky and repetitive, but the actress proves she has as big a talent for comedy as she does drama, throwing herself into playing the deliciously awful Elena – a dastardly dictator with a designer wardrobe to die for.
