The couple, who have appeared together on Celebrity Gogglebox, met in 1999 when Alice was a BBC Radio 4 announcer and newsreader - becoming friends first, as they were both with partners, before their own relationship began and progressed. While Clare, 53, insists she knew there was a special connection between the pair from the day they met, she did not see anything romantic between them as they were both with other partners at the time.
