Korean entertainment powerhouse CJ ENM has struck a major content partnership with Shahid, the Middle East and North Africa region’s largest Arabic-language streaming platform, as the company continues its aggressive global expansion strategy. “Korean dramas have seen exponential growth in global popularity over the past decade, thanks to their cinematic production quality, emotionally resonant plots, and compelling characters,” said Sebastian Kim, VP of international content Business at CJ ENM. The company recently inked a deal with Mexico’s Imagen Televisión for a dedicated prime-time slot for Korean dramas on national television, and its content scored multiple nominations at the Banff Rockie Awards.
