Ex Machina director Alex Garland writes and directs this dystopian action drama about an America where several territories have ceceded from the union A24 will release the film on April 12, a date which has a lot of historical significance with the real Civil War It was on April 12, 1861 when Confederate troops fired on Fort Sumter, South Carolina, which many historians consider the start of the Civil War The film stars Kirsten Dunst , Nick Offerman, Wagner Moura, Cailee Spaeny , Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sonoya Mizuno and Nelson Lee Parts of the trailer are set to someone whistling America the Beautiful while this war wages on, as we see shots of a military convoy driving down a road with helicopter escorts.
