Cillian Murphy Wins Best Actor Oscar: I’m a ‘Very Proud Irish Man Standing Up Here Tonight’
Cillian Murphy Wins Best Actor for 'Oppenheimer,' and dedicates his win to the 'Peacekeepers' everywhere.
“We made a film about the man who created the atomic bomb, and for better or for worse, we’re all living in Oppenheimer’s world, so, I would like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere.” This marks Murphy and Nolan’s sixth collaboration, a working relationship that spans nearly 20 years and includes films like Nolan’s Batman trilogy, “Inception,” “Dunkirk” and now “Oppenheimer.” It wasn’t until the latter title that Murphy got the chance to actually lead a Nolan-directed feature, something the actor had told the Associated Press the summer before “Oppenheimer” opened in theaters that he “was desperate” to do. That final interrogation at the end of the movie, with Jason Clarke playing [Roger] Robb, is one of my favorite sequences because that’s where we really get to see inside the soul of Oppenheimer.
