Veteran BBC broadcaster Steve, one of the most familiar voices on the airwaves in the UK, died at the age of 69 on Tuesday February 13 (pictured 2003) He said: 'I said to him I have been offered a job at Radio 1 and he said "Oh yeah, I used to work there" and I was like "I am very aware of this" and he said "I think that could be good for you but it's not what it used to be but you probably will be the last big DJ on that station to have an impact" and I ended up doing his old time slot in the afternoon and I got a kick out of it.
