China Box Office: ‘Twisters’ Is Blown Away as ‘Successor’ Enjoys $89 Million Weekend
At the China box office, 'Successor' achieved major hit status by the end of its first official weekend on release, blowing away 'Twisters' debut.
“ Successor,” a Chinese-produced comedy drama about escape from poverty, dominated a big weekend at the Mainland Chinabox office. Its overseas distributor, CMC Pictures plans to capitalize on the film’s momentum and release it in English-language territories in early August. Artisan Gateway did not report data for “Twisters,” which enjoyed a release in China that was closely synchronized with its North American and international openings.
