Local comedy ‘The Last Frenzy’ takes the top spot at the mainland China box office on a record-breaking May Day holiday weekend
“ The Last Frenzy,” a comedy film about a dying man’s last hurrah, took the top spot in mainland Chinese cinemas ahead of chasing pack of new releases. In third place was “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In,” a Hong Kong-produced action thriller that a week earlier had topped the box office chart through preview screenings alone. Directed by Rina Wu, “The Last Frenzy” stars Jia Bing, Tan Zhuo, Xiao Shenyang and Yu Yang, in a tale of love, friendship and hometown nostalgia as a man with ten days to live spends his fortune and reconnects with those in his past.
