China Box Office: ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Opens on Top, ‘Ne Zha 2′ Stays in Top Five


Disney’s 'Lilo & Stitch' debuted at the top of the China box office, pulling in $8.7 million.

The family title marked the strongest performance among a quiet slate, offering a rare Hollywood success in a year dominated by local productions. Directed by Andrew Lau and starring Ma Li, the rags-to-riches biopic continues to draw solid returns. With a number of major domestic titles and international releases on the June slate, the market is expected to pick up momentum heading into the summer.
