Chili's is backing a 15-minute short film on Lifetime made look like one of the network's sudsy movies as advertisers push more boldly into content

Menounos isn’t going to throw one of the tequila-based concoctions in anyone’s face, but audiences will be hard-pressed to miss the message about celebrating at the well-known chain eatery. There is a growing push on Madison Avenue to foil the increasing disdain the average TV viewer has for traditional commercials, by devising content that is as interesting or entertaining as the shows people like to watch and binge. In 2020, Yum Brands’ KFC and Lifetime collaborated on the 15-minute program “A Recipe for Seduction,” which starred actor Mario Lopez as a amorous version of the chain’s founder, Col. Harland Sanders.
