A source close to Hines tells PEOPLE exclusively that the former presidential candidate's alleged affair with the New York magazine reporter, 31, is “embarrassing” for her. Kennedy and Nuzzi’s alleged “relationship” made headlines after New York magazine published a statement announcing that the journalist had been put on leave on Sept. 19. A representative for Kennedy addressed the alleged relationship in a statement to The Washington Post, claiming the former candidate only met the reporter one time for her November 2023 story titled “The Mind-Bending Politics of RFK Jr.’s Spoiler Campaign.”
