Charlize Theron paddles a kayak while shooting scenes for new Netflix thriller in Australia

Charlize Theron hit Australian waters this week as she continued production on her upcoming Netflix film Apex in parts of Sydney and Western Sydney.

Deadline has described the premise of the screenplay as a mix of the documentary Free Solo (2018), which profiles rock climber Alex Honnold, meets the classic horror thriller The Silence Of The Lambs (1991), that starred Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins. After the shoot for Apex, Theron will reportedly move right into production for the epic fantasy-action film The Odyssey, featuring a cast of big stars like Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o and Robert Pattinson, among others. She went on to receive critical acclaim for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster (2003), for which she won the Best Actress Oscar, earning her the distinction of being the first South African to win an Academy Award for acting.
