Charli was honored as Variety ’s Hitmaker of the Year, where she name-dropped the Velvet Underground’s 1967 debut album as one of her inspirations in an acceptance speech. “I kinda miss the time when pop music was really volatile and crazy,” Charli, 31, told The Face in an interview published Monday, February 19.
