Charley Scalies, Star of 'The Wire' and 'The Sopranos,' Dead at 84

Charley Scalies, 'The Wire' and 'The Sopranos' actor, has died at 84 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease, his family confirmed

Scalies was best-known for his role of dockworker and union member Thomas “Horseface” Pakusa on The Wire, appearing in every episode of the critically-acclaimed show’s second season, released in 2003. “Charley emphasised the importance of family, stating that loving their mother, spending quality time, and teaching respect and hard work were key elements of fatherhood,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. The HBO crime drama began in January 1999 with Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) reluctantly walking into the office of his new psychiatrist, Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco), after having a panic attack.
