Channel Nine staff angry over 'special treatment' as top athletes given '$10,000 a day' for Paris Olympics commentary while network stars 'are being paid peanuts'

Channel Nine's stable of reporters are said to be angry over how the network is handling the upcoming coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

A number of Olympic superstars, reportedly including swimmers Ian Thorpe, Grant Hackett and Stephanie Rice, cyclist Cadel Evans, Paralympian Dylan Alcott and basketballer Andrew Gaze, are being paid 'bloated' salaries to provide coverage of the sporting event, the Daily Telegraph claims. Staff received an email from Nine's group director of finance operations, Danielle Abandowitz, telling them their pay that was due to come through on Saturday wouldn't be processed until Tuesday. 'This is due to public holidays and although the pay details have been finalised and transferred to ANZ, they will not be processed until Tuesday 2nd April,' she wrote in the email obtained by The Australian.
