Channel 4 legend dead just one month after receiving huge accolade

Alastair Down, one of the faces of Channel 4 Racing, has died at the age of 68 after a short illness with the news coming just a week after a press room was named in his honour

Alastair had attended the ceremony, surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues, and was interviewed by ITV Racing. His writings about the event are legendary, and he once said: "From first seeing it on television in black and white, that Peter O'Sullevan soundtrack, I was smitten by it somehow." His unique writing style allowed him to capture the essence of racing events, reports the Mirror.
