Herridge joined CBS in 2019 from Fox News, and served as senior investigative correspondent covering national security and intelligence. Pegues was CBS News chief national affairs and justice correspondent, based in Washington, having joined the network in 2013. Sources said that others who were laid off include Christina Ruffini, a correspondent covering foreign affairs and the State Department.
