CBS Broadcasting Layoffs, Part Of Broader Paramount Cuts, Slammed By IBEW As “A Hard Pill To Swallow”
The IBEW, which is the largest union representing CBS employees, is slamming the latest round of Paramount layoffs affecting CBS workers.
In addition to objecting to Tuesday’s move, the union vowed to closely monitor the review of Paramount’s pending merger with Skydance Media by the FCC and other regulatory agencies. As the largest union representing CBS employees, we will continue to monitor the network’s actions and follow the sale’s approval process by the FCC and other government entities involved,” said IBEW International President Kenneth W. Cooper. Still, the FCC last year did effectively block the sale of local TV giant Tegna to private equity firm Standard General, raising concerns that the $8.6 billion could “result in job losses.”
