CBS Blocks Sony From Canceling Lucrative ‘Jeopardy’ and ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Deals


CBS obtained a restraining order barring Sony from taking over distribution of the lucrative game shows while the two sides fight in court.

CBS went to court in Los Angeles to obtain a temporary restraining order, which was granted on Wednesday by Judge Kevin Brazile. CBS sought a restraining order on Tuesday, arguing that it would suffer irreparable harm, including incalculable loss of revenues, if the termination were allowed to take effect. In response, Sony argued that it had taken the step “reluctantly,” but only after CBS’ “far-reaching, andever-escalating, failure to meet its contractual obligations.”
