Cause of Sinéad O’Connor’s death ruled as natural causes

Southwark coroner’s court closes its case with brief statement, following singer’s death in July last year

A brief statement from Southwark coroner’s court in London, the city where the singer-songwriter had been living at the end of her life, said: “This is to confirm that Ms O’Connor died of natural causes. Her death prompted an outpouring of grief from admirers including the taoiseach of her native Ireland, Leo Varadkar, who said “her music was loved around the world and her talent was unmatched and beyond compare”. A concert paying tribute to her and another late Irish star, Shane MacGowan, has been announced for 20 March in New York City, with artists including Cat Power and David Gray.
