Rogen and Goldberg, who previously codirected films like This Is the End and The Interview, called up O’Hara in hopes of casting her in their new TV series, which follows a movie studio head and all the behind-the-scenes drama of Hollywood moviemaking. O’Hara admits that Moira, the eccentric former soap opera star she played on Schitt’s Creek, was a career-altering role—but also one that seemed difficult to move past. Though her role in HBO’s hit, which returns April 13, is more dramatic, she’s still crafting a vivid character that feels uniquely her own—especially since it’s not one who appears in the original video game.
