Blanchett leads an all-star ensemble cast in the movie adaptation of the video game series, playing Lilith, an outlaw who reluctantly returns to her home planet to find the missing daughter of a powerful weapons manufacturer. It’s even got its own Seventies arena rock soundtrack, set to Electric Light Orchestra’s “Do Ya.” Meanwhile, director Eli Roth seems to be striving for a kind of Mad Max, deranged desert aesthetic, but with some comic book/video game touches, rather than pure post-apocalyptic hellscape. Along with the aforementioned cast members, Borderlands will also feature Édgar Ramírez (playing the big bad weapons manufacturer, Atlas), Gina Gershon, Cheyenne Jackson, Haley Bennett, Steven Boyer, Charles Babalola, Olivier Richters, Janina Gavankar, Benjamin Byron Davis, Ryann Redmond, and Bobby Lee.
