Since winning American Idol, Carrie Underwood ’s life has been so much more than “Just a Dream.” The Oklahoma native shot to fame in 2005 after becoming the champion of the TV singing competition’s fourth season. The Northeastern State University graduate auditioned for American Idol in St. Louis in September 2004 by singing Bonnie Raitt ’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” She was 21 at the time. Amid her Las Vegas residency — which Underwood extended several times — the musician launched her SiriusXM channel, Carrie’s Country, in June 2023.
