The legendary maths whizz wrapped up her mission during a visit to Cambridge, in the company of two fab over-50s women, discovering how they're absolutely thriving living their single life. Before getting her big break on Countdown – thanks to her mum spotting the game-changing ad, asking for a maths whizz – she worked as a junior civil engineer at Dinorwig Power Station in Wales and cut her teeth as a management trainee in Leeds.
