Carin León and Kane Brown took center stage at the 2024 Premio Lo Nuestro on Thursday night (Feb. 22) for the world premiere of their first collaborative effort called “The One (Pero No Como Yo).” The Spanglish bop is a heartfelt country-tinged, regional Mexican fusion that narrates the story of a man who’s convincing a woman that he’s her one and only. Artists like Kenny Rogers and Johnny Lee began to give it a more pop touch, which I feel is what is happening with our [Mexican] music,” León tells Billboard.
