Captain America: Brave New World earns $12M in first-night opening despite lukewarm reviews

Captain America: Brave New World hit theaters on Thursday night and headed toward $12M in its first-night earnings.

The superhero adventure brings back elements from 2008's The Incredible Hulk, with Harrison Ford stepping in for the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross, plus Tim Blake Nelson returning as Samuel Sterns. Deadline reported that RelishMix counted under 600M for the movie's reach across social media platforms, putting it in average standing for a superhero flick. Julius Onah directed the film from a screenplay co-written with Rob Edwards, Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson and Peter Glanz.
