Brazil has been named country of honor for the upcoming edition of the Cannes Film Market.

Brazil, which is having a banner start of the year with Walter Salles’ “I’m Still Here” nominated for three Academy Awards including best picture, has been named country of honor for the upcoming edition of the Cannes Film Market. Brazil’s leading filmmakers, producers and other industry players are expected to attend the market whose key programs will include film and documentary work-in-progress showcases, exclusive networking events and presentations of new international co-production initiatives. In addition to having “I’m Still Here” riding high in the awards season in the U.S., Brazil also triumphed at the Berlin Film Festival where Gabriel Mascaro’s “The Blue Trail” won the Silver Bear from a jury presided over by Todd Haynes.
