Pamela Anderson called vanity a "prison" as she eyes new roles after her breakout film, 'The Last Showgirl', and gave a shoutout to universal healthcare.

The Canadian-born actress opened her remarks with nod to “universal, free and fair healthcare” after noting that her father had just undergone cancer surgery. Also honored by NYWIFT this year: actor and activist Marissa Bode; director and producer Lisa Cortés; producer Celia Costas,; Amy Entelis, EVP Talent, CNN Originals and Creative Development, CNN Worldwide; and Versha Sharma, Editor-in-Chief, Teen Vogue.
