They met for the first time just a few weeks earlier, at rehearsals in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center — after Rolling Stone played matchmaker, Springsteen ended up flying cross-country midtour to join Bryan onstage. As he sits down with Springsteen, it’s late April, and what will become his latest hit album, The Great American Bar Scene(with another nod to Nebraska in the title track’s lyrics), is still a work in progress. Springsteen invited ‘Rolling Stone’ to his Colts Neck, New Jersey, farm, where we shot inside his Thrill Hill Recording studio and in a century-old barn that was also seen in his 2019 ‘Western Stars’ documentary.
