Broken Social Scene Used to Hire Singers in Every City Just to Tour

always seemed like more of a collective than a band, and a new clip from It’s All Gonna Break — an upcoming doc about the group that’s hitting movie theaters around North America in the months to come — shows the hard work the musicians had to put into getting on the road. First off, they needed a female singer that could replicate vocals recorded by Leslie Feist, Metric’s Emily Haines, and Stars’ Amy Millan, so they hired vocalist-keyboardist Lisa Lobsinger to tour with them. It features new interviews with the group’s Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, as well as Feist, Millan, and Haines, as well as appearances from literally every member of the band throughout the years.
