Broadway legend Chita Rivera died at age 91 ‘after a brief illness,’ her daughter confirmed on Tuesday, January 30
“It is with immense personal sorrow that I announce the death of the beloved Broadway icon Chita Rivera,” her publicist Merle Frimark shared in a statement to Us Weekly. “She is also survived by her siblings Julio, Armando and Lola del Rivero, (her older sister Carmen predeceased her), along with her many nieces, nephews and friends. Throughout her extensive theater career, Rivera has also been awarded two Tonys, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Kiss of the Spider Woman in 1993 and the Lifetime Achievement in Theatre in 2018.
