Older Britons could be in for a financial windfall, as experts are encouraging them to perform a DWP benefits check that might boost their income by a whopping £8,300. Pension Credit, which is designed to top up weekly income and unlock additional support, is currently being under-claimed, with 40% of eligible individuals not taking advantage of the benefit. "This is most often due to a lack of awareness or an assumption being made that they will not be eligible, but not checking could be incredibly costly as you may not only be missing out on a substantial boost to your retirement income, but now the Winter Fuel Payment too," he said.
