Britain’s Got Talent hosts Ant and Dec replaced TV legend as hosts of show after huge row

Paul O'Grady was originally set to host ITV's Britain's Got Talent but was later axed from the show after the comedian had a 'bust-up' with the channel

Following the success of America's Got Talent, which premiered a year earlier, BGT has launched the careers of household names like Diversity's Ashley Banjo, singer Susan Boyle, and dancer George Sampson. However, ITV producers were concerned that the talent show wouldn't succeed without comedian Paul O'Grady at the helm, reports the Daily Star. However, the star did ring Simon to explain the situation at the time, while informing him that he had "a huge hit" on his hands, but due to his ban, he just wasn't able to commit to the show.
