Britain facing '30hrs of relentless snow' starting in just a few days
Weather maps show when the most of the UK will be affected by the snow bomb which will first hit Scotland on Saturday, before the Midlands and North East of England
According to WXCharts, which utilises Met Desk data, Scotland will bear the brunt of the snow on Saturday 21 December, followed by the Midlands and North East of England by midday. Manchester and parts of Wales are also at risk, with weather maps indicating a significant deterioration in conditions, marked by a purple hue. "Temperatures will tend to fluctuate around the seasonal average, with some milder interludes, especially for the south, interspersed with colder polar maritime north-westerlies.
