Brian Murphy dies aged 92 as tributes paid to Man About The House star


Beloved actor Brian Murphy, who was best known for his roles in the British sitcoms Man About the House and George and Mildred, has died at the age of 92

Best known for his roles in the classic '70s British sitcoms Man About the House and George and Mildred, Brian also delighted audiences with his performances in various ITV dramas and comedies later in his career. Born on the Isle of Wight in 1932, Murphy embarked on his acting career in the 1950s with the innovative Theatre Workshop, co-founded by Joan Littlewood and Gerry Raffles. The actor enthralled audiences with his performances in various Shakespeare plays under Joan Littlewood's direction, and won hearts in her film, the quirky comedy Sparrows Can't Sing.
