Box Office: ‘Lisa Frankenstein’ Not Shocking Life Into Theaters After $1.7 Million Opening Day
'Lisa Frankenstein' landed a soft opening at the domestic box office behind 'Argylle,' as Super Bowl weekend sends theatrical business grinding to a halt.
It’s not a very strong start for the horror-aesthete romantic comedy, though a very modest $13 million production price tag means that Focus is facing a softened financial hit should the movie not stick around theaters. Universal’s release of “Argylle” will retain the top spot at the box office, even asit faces a tumble of 62%from its disappointing $17.4 million opening weekend. Exhibitors will have to hope that the Valentine’s Day bows of “Madame Web” and “Bob Marley: One Love” can provide a true jumpstart to business.
