Box Office: ‘Inside Out 2’ Blasts Past ‘Dune 2’ as 2024’s Biggest Movie, ‘Bikeriders’ Revs $4 Million Opening Day

Disney and Pixar's 'Inside Out 2' has now surpassed 'Dune: Part Two' to become the biggest domestic release of 2024 so far.

But producer New Regency elected to delay the picture amid the Hollywood strikes and sought a new distributor; after a short period, “Bikeriders” landed at Universal’s Focus. And now with the SAG-AFTRA strike in the rearview, the film’s cast, which includes Austin Butler, Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy, gets to hit the promotional circuit. The action sequel will click past $150 million domestic sometime in the next week and is only pacing slightly behind its predecessor, 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life.” The Will Smith and Martin Lawrence two-hander now ranks as the sixth-highest-grossing domestic release of the year; it moved ahead of fellow Sony sequel “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” ($113 million) five days ago.
