Box Office: ‘Godzilla x Kong’ to Track Down $50 Million-Plus in Opening Weekend
"Godzilla x Kong" is targeting $50 million to $55 million in its first weekend of release.
“Godzilla vs. Kong” filmmaker Adam Wingard returned to direct “The New Empire,” starring Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Dan Stevens. Unlike prior iterations, which pit the creatures against each other, this film sees Kong unite with Godzilla to stop a mysterious threat from destroying the planet. But if previous MonsterVerse entries — which were popular but not particularly well received by critics — are any indication, those seniments likely won’t play a big part in box office riches.
