Box Office: ‘Civil War’ Makes $2.9 Million in Previews, Best Ever for an A24 Movie


'Civil War' makes $2.9 million at the box office in Thursday previews.

The film, which takes place in a fractured America torn apart by civil war, is projected to make around $20 million in its opening weekend. Director Ari Aster’s horror film “Hereditary” currently holds the highest opening weekend for A24, after it made $13.6 million in 2018. The film stars Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura and Cailee Spaeny as wartime journalists, who travel to Washington, D.C. in the midst of a deadly civil war.
