Bowen Yang calls Aimee Lou Wood's reaction to SNL's White Lotus sketch 'valid,' says 'parody can go too far'

Bowen Yang has voiced support for Aimee Lou Wood's 'completely valid' reaction to a recent 'SNL' spoof of 'The White Lotus' that she found 'mean and unfunny': 'Parody can go too far sometimes.'

Sherman appeared in the satire sporting fake, enlarged teeth and speaking in an exaggerated British accent. Wood was very vocal about her issues with the sketch in a series of Instagram Stories posts soon after it aired, writing, "Yes, take the piss for sure — that's what the show is about — but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?" Yang is in the midst of a press tour for The Wedding Banquet, Andrew Ahn's remake of Ang Lee's 1993 cult classic, following a group of besties who form a chosen family as they navigate societal expectations and their identities.
