Bowen Yang asks fans to stop tagging him on social media every day in pictures and videos of other Asian people. 'No thank you,' he said. 'It makes me not wanna use the platform.'

Yang has been hosting Las Culturistas since 2016, and gained recognition for his comic stylings in guest spots on series like Broad City and High Maintenance. But being recruited as a writer for Saturday Night Live in 2018 massively expanded his profile, and the following year, he became the show's first Chinese-American cast member. With a larger platform comes greater opportunities, as Yang discovered when a small role in the stage production of Wicked was expanded for him to appear in the film version.
