Meanwhile, Bong’s latest movie Mickey 17, which stars Robert Pattinson, is released in cinemas today (March 7). The film, which is an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel Mickey7, sees Pattinson play Mickey Barnes, a man who signs up to be an “expendable”, a human that can regenerate after death, but finds multiple versions of himself confronting each other after a space expedition goes wrong. In a four star review, NME said “Bong Joon-ho’s oddball sci-fi satire is out of this world”, adding: “There’s an infectious warmth to proceedings that makes you stick with Mickey 17 (and 18) through thick and thin.
