Bob Edwards, former host of NPR’s ‘Morning Edition,’ dies at 76


Edwards helped to launch NPR’s morning newsmagazine, which he hosted from 1979 until 2004.

Bob Edwards, who spent decades as host of NPR’s “Morning Edition,” has died, according to the public radio network. “Bob Edwards understood the intimate and distinctly personal connection with audiences that distinguishes audio journalism from other mediums, and for decades he was a trusted voice in the lives of millions of public radio listeners,” he said. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Edwards began his radio career at a small station in New Albany, Indiana.
