Billy Joel Drops First New Song, 'Turn the Lights Back On,' in 17 Years: Listen

The song, 'Turn the Lights Back On,' dropped on Thursday.

"I'm late, but I'm here right now / Though I used to be romantic, I forgot somehow / Time can make you blind / But I see you now as we're laying in the darkness / Did I wait too long to turn the lights back on?" "And these are the last words I have to say / It’s always hard to say goodbye / But now it’s time to put this book away / Ain’t that the story of my life," he sings in the closing number to the album. In an interview with The New Yorker in 2014, Joel elaborated on his decision to stop creating albums after River of Dreams, which picked up four GRAMMY noms and featured songs like "No Man's Land" and "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)."
