Beta’s deal looks like one of the highest-profile on any title at Series Mania, here a project playing the festival’s prestigious Co-Pro Pitching Sessions.
Described by Beta Film as a “fresh and twisted take on the thriller genre,” the six-part series turns on Cecilie Mars, a driven and model new police commissioner who is secretly consumed by a past trauma. Trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse, blurring the lines between justice and revenge, Cecilie battles to discover the identity of Lazarus as her colleagues come ever closer to uncovering her. “‘Cecilie Mars’ is my chance to shake up the thriller genre by diving headfirst into an unseen side of Copenhagen – one filled with shadowy corners, hidden stories, and mysteries lurking just beneath the sunny surface,” said Boe.
