And it made household names of stars including Steve Pemberton as Mick, Sheila Reid as Madge, Johnny Vegas as Geoff and Jake Canuso as barman Mateo, with hilarious cameo roles came from the likes of Una Stubbs, Louie Spence, Cilla Black and Su Pollard. Huge celebs even lined up to play their part in the show, with legendary Hollywood star Joan Collins as Crystal Jennessy-Vass, the CEO of the Solana Hotel Group, and Matthew Kelly as Cyril Babcock. Actor James Lance, perhaps best known for portraying Trent Crimm – a sports journalist from the Independent newspaper – in Apple TV's smash hit Ted Lasso, popped up in the tenth and final series of Benidorm, first broadcast in February 2018.
